Real-World example (Long IT Example)
The office printer refuses to print anything Steve or Joe sends to it, despite working just fine last week, and continuing to work just fine for everyone else in the office. Every time Amy saves something on her computer, the cursor spins and the machine locks up long enough for her to go get a cup of coffee, complete with cream and sugar, before it is released so she can move on to another task. Bill hasn’t received an email in three days even though five people in the office swear on their mothers’ grave they have sent him the same message no fewer than five times during that timeframe. And Steve’s computer also tends to shut down for no reason whatsoever while he’s working on documents in Microsoft Word.
Things at the office just aren’t going well when it comes to the IT situation.
You could either:
A) Get online and hire a break-fix computer specialist to come in and address each of those problems, one at a time, and not only disrupt your workflow more than just having fouled up computers did, but charge you out the nose while doing it
B) Call Joe’s college student nephew who is known for being “Big into computers.” He’s much cheaper than the professional break-fix guy, but hiring an Art Major to fix the computer network you rely on for your livelihood is a big risk. The entire time he’s working on the network, your anxiety won’t give you a moment’s peace
C) Put an ad on ZIpRecruiter seeking a full-time IT professional for the office at a salary of at least $50,000 because deep down you know the good IT guys won’t work for less
D) None of the Above because you already have a Managed IT Company on call and ready to help at a monthly rate so low an in-house IT guy would walk off the job if it was his paycheck when payday rolls around.
Which situation would you rather be in?
Three of those four options are pretty straight forward. If your computer network goes on the fritz, and it will because they all do eventually, it’s going to be an expense you probably didn’t budget for so it’s going to completely foul up your monthly financial statement when you dish out the big bucks to get it fixed.
The fourth option, the “None of the Above” option, is the option chosen by small businesses who have third-party, off-site Managed IT Service Providers on call and ready to fix whatever needs fixing at a moment’s notice. In fact, a small business who already had an ongoing relationship with JDB Technology (JDB) should never be in a situation where the office network was in such bad shape to begin with, because part of JDB’s job is to keep an eye on things and get them fixed before they become problems.
How is this different than having the break-fix specialist from Option A show up at the office every time something breaks? Well, the primary difference is JDB’s monitoring your network remotely and we should never have to step foot inside your office to fix most problems.
JDB could fix the printer problem Steve and Joe are experiencing.
JDB likely would have seen the issues Amy’s computer is having before they were even reported, and taken steps to repair the issue.
JDB could make sure Bill’s Outlook was configured correctly, and track down the problem elsewhere if it is.
The best part of working with JDB Technology is that every one of those problems could be fixed as part of the low monthly fee. It wouldn’t cost you anything extra unless the solutions required new hardware, and even then, the costs associated with replacing hardware will vary depending on the type of agreement you have with us. Budgeting computer network repairs is a breeze when working with an JDB.
